Russian River Valley

The dense purple color of this wine is accompanied by an intoxicating bouquet of currants and crushed berries. This year the fruit produced a luscious hedonistically styled wine with oodles of black raspberry and strawberry fruit. Thick and rich in texture this wine is intriguing well balanced and presented in a lusty succulent style.

DETAILS
This Century Old vineyard is located alongside the Russian River in Healdsburg, Ca. The Ponzo family has been there for generations and kept the vines hidden in back during Prohibition when there were forced to plant prunes. Harts Desire has been working with the vineyard for 20 years and let’s just say we know are way around the ranch. I feel lucky to have the privilege to work with this old vine dry-farmed fruit.

Rued Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley

Expect pure aromas of citrine crème and honey.  Flavors are clean and viscious with white nectarines, mandrarin orange and key lime.  There is a breathtaking finish which integrates nicley with the rich fruit and vanilla crème notes from barrel aging.

DETAILS

Our old vine selection is a stunning example of just how special this vineyard is.  About the third week of October after a week of rain we decided to go out and look at Richard Rued's old vine semillon that we decided not to pick.  The entire vineyard block was infected with botritis rot.  We allowed the fruit to hang three more weeks and harvested and sorted through four colors of mold, quite a sticky mess.  When we dumped the fruit into the press a mushroom cloud of spores filled the air overhead.  The pressed wine resembled clover honey at over 55 brix.  The low yielding cordon vines are some of the largest vines I have ever seen!
