Our Story

John and Desire

Hart’s Desire is truly a boutique winery tucked away in Geyserville, CA. John Hart III and his wife, Desire, started the winery after years of making wine for themselves, family and close friends. Soon that grew to friends of family and their friends as well. In 1991, at the urging of his loyal following, John “went legit” and the first Hart’s Desire Chardonnay was produced.

In the years since, John has built a family winery known for its gorgeously crafted, single vineyard wines. John has never met a grape he didn’t want to turn into a fine wine. This coupled with his goal of never producing more than 500 cases per varietal has led to a perfect balance for the winery. Hart’s Desire currently offers 16 wines ranging in production from 30 to 500 cases. The total case production is 2500. You are invited to visit our family-run, second-generation winery at our tasting room in Healdsburg, CA. Trying our wine is like meeting our family.
